Our Activities
Illustrated newsletters with information on local affairs and the Society's cultural, educational and social events.
Throughout the year the society organises guided visits to places of interest, not always open to the publict, throughout London. The visits also provide an opportunity for members to meet. A nominal charge is made and some visits are restricted to members.
Recent events have been:
Speaker's House at the House of Commons.
Foundling Museum, Bloomsbury, London's first home for abandoned babies established in 1739.
Christ Church Spitalfields, Hawksmoor's recently restored masterpiece.
Westminster's Civic Plate at City Hall, Victoria followed by tea with the Lord Mayor.

REMEMBERANCE SERVICE
You may be aware that every year a Remembrance Day Service is held at Westminster Abbey with Westminster City Councillors attending and processing in robes at the event.
This year the service is being held on Sunday 8 November, beginning at 10.30. Members of the congregation should be in their seats by 10.15 at the latest, and the two minutes Silence is observed at 11.00.
If you would like to attend please apply to Stuart Holmes at The Abbey at the following address, giving your name, address and number of tickets required by Monday 26th October so that there is time for the ticket requests to be processed and mailed.
The Abbey have asked for the usual arrangement - a request, giving the information mentioned above (name, address, number of tickets) - to be sent together with a stamped reply envelope to them as follows:

Prospective applicants for tickets should be aware that the area around the Abbey is security cordoned - such that traffic is diverted off Victoria Street at the traffic lights by the Albert pub, and Parliament Square is closed to vehicles.
